Why

Hike through the giant forest and marvel at the worlds largest living thing; title earned by the massive General Sherman Sequoia tree which is 2300 to 2600 years old. These huge Sequoia Groves grow naturally only on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada, usually between 5,000 and 7,000 feet elevation. Climb up Moro Rock, a "mini-Half Dome", and from its granite summit you see the Western Continental Divide on one side and the entire San Joaquin Valley on the other! Experience the Roaring River Falls and Mist Falls in the Kings River which has carved Kings Canyon some 6,000 feet - deeper than Hells Canyon or Grand Canyon!

You may choose daily between a long strenuous hike or shorter hikes with plenty of time to explore the history of the area after. These beautiful parks lie about 100 air miles South of Yosemite. The five hour drive to Sequoia/Kings is fascinating as we travel through the orchards, table grape and cotton fields of the San Joaquin Valley along Hwy #198. The John Muir Lodge nestled in the midst of the two parks offers cozy accommodations, store, gift shop, dining, visitors center and trails meandering through the Grant Grove of Giant Sequoias.
